Watermead Day Nursery believes that each child should be treated as an individual. Children attending the nursery will be encouraged to have a positive attitude towards others and we will always endeavour to accommodate and meet the needs of individuals within the setting taking into account the available facilities and equipment.

Admissions Policy

​

No child between 0 and 5 years is refused admission to the Nursery unless we are up to our maximum numbers on those days required and that we have adequate staff cover. In that event, we operate a waiting list system and as soon as a place becomes available you will be informed.

Behaviour Policy

​

We aim to set boundaries in a way which helps your child to develop a sense of the significance of their own behavior, both on their environment and on those around them. On no account will any form of physical punishment be used or practices which humiliate or frighten. Staff will use positive techniques including re-direction and early intervention. If a child’s behavior is persistently disruptive parent/carers are informed. The management reserves the right to remove a child from the nursery who is persistently disruptive and a danger to other children.

Child Protection Policy

​

The Nursery has a responsibility to ensure the children in our care are developing in a safe and secure environment. If we have concerns that a child is being harmed or injured, we must report this to OFSTED. This decision would not be made lightly and would come following a pattern of events rather than an isolated incident.

Health and Safety

​

•Regular Fire Drills

•Fire equipment and smoke alarms are tested and checked weekly

• The Nursery has full Public Liability Insurance

• Children are supervised at all times

• All toys and equipment used are to British Safety Standard

• Safety floor surfaces outside

• Outdoor areas are fully enclosed

• Children are not allowed off the premises with anyone other

 than parent/carers unless otherwise instructed

• CCTV monitoring in operation throughout the day
